DIY not so Ugly Christmas Sweater!

So for this holiday season, I want to round up a list of my christmas DIY's that I finished! Most of these posts will show presents i made for other people, but this one was just for me!

DIY OLAF sweater

Love Frozen? me too! Lately I can't stop singing "Do you want to build a Snowman" so when my work ugly christmas sweater day was approaching I knew what I wanted to make

Materials:
-Hanes Sweatshirt in blue but any color will work other than white ($5.98)
-3 pieces of white felt ($.29/each)
-brown pipe cleaner, orange pipecleaner, and black pipecleaner ($.99 a pack)
- fun styrofoam glittery balls from Michaels ( $3.99 before my 40% coupon)
-black fabric paint, white fabric paint ($.99 each)
-Fabric Glue (Tacky Glue, $1.99)

1. First I did the back of the sweatshirt, I wrote " Do you want to build a snowman?" with white fabric paint. Let this dry completely before moving on to the front
2. Then cut the white felt into olaf like shapes, I googled olaf to find an image to base it off of.
then I glued the pieces down, layering them on top of each other.
3 Next I drew his face in with black fabric paint, and I glued the pipe cleaners down for his arms, nose and "hair"
4. I drew in the lumps of coal with black fabric paint

Next I glued styrofoam balls and drew a few snowflakes in with white fabric paint. You can add as many embellishments as you want!

Let everything dry, it may take a while depending on how thick your paint is.

Done! Cheap, cute and fun sweatshirt to wear this holiday season!

DIY WALL ART

the world is repinning my work! i love it. this is the first time i actually did something i saw on pinterest.... the how-to is super easy, you just need a glue-gun, tp tubes, ( i saved for 2-3 months) it depends on how big you want the piece to be in the end. and the last thing you need is paint/spray paint, i used acrylic craft pain because i already had it, and it matched my table (previous post) check it: again the design is completely up to you, i've seen a lot of different ones, it just depends on how many tubes you have! happy diy! :) update 4/24/12 what the tp art looks like on the wall.

Completed Wedding Presents!

A while ago I posted pictures of the wedding presents I have been working on. For the next stage, I picked out quotes or phrases I wanted to stencil on the wood. I used stencils I found in the Office supply area at Target. Here is a photo of the first two that I stenciled. Here is the story that I am attaching to the present about where the wood came from... This piece of wood might not look like much, but it was picked with love from a stack of wood in my (Leslie’s) Grandpa’s workshop. My Grandpa would spend hours whittling, taking pieces like this and turning them into masterpieces. I “borrowed” this run-down piece of wood and transformed it into something new, something personal just for both of you. I hope you enjoy it because like this piece of wood, you have started a new adventure together. DIY-Decorative Brick Critters

My newest DIY project using decorative landscape bricks from Menards (58 cents each) and paint! super fun and easy, all it takes is a bit of creativity! Materials needed: -Landscape bricks of various shapes, shape determines what you can make! -Patio Paint (bought a Michaels near they terra cotta pots) you use this pain because then it can be outside without wrecking the paint -spray sealant (indoor/outdoor semi-gloss spray) -any additional items to make the creature, wire, wood pieces for wings, glass beads for shell etc -Add 1-2 coats of paint depending on the color, for lighter colors I did two coats Finished Turtle! Finished bee! Ladybug my mom did that started the idea for this project! What other creatures can you make? Snowmen, Pumpkins, Easter Bunny and many more!
